Today we are featuring an interview:

Hi! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hi, I'm Reut Barak and I live in Scotland. I think you can say I'm a bit of an adventurer. I've lived in a few countries and I met people from all over the world. I also like to go hiking and backpacking and I'm always up for learning new things.

Can you tell us, in your own words not the book description, a little about your book?

Funny Fairy Tales are not ordinary books. They work a lot like an app and it feels like someone is telling you a story. They are also a very quick read, a bit like a snack, something fun you read on the plane or waiting for the train, and every person reads them differently. Some people giggle and swipe left. Others stop and think about the story.

Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

Well, I think they come at the same time, because we all know the original fairy tales, but the story for me starts the minute I get a fresh point of view from a character. Like in Snow White, Shraga the sarcastic mirror is where the story starts. It's his interaction with the queen that makes this so colourful.

Can we expect more novels from you in 2017/2018?

Yes, definitely. Funny Fairy Tales 4, Hansel and Gretel is now in editing.

What is your favorite part of writing?

When a book passes the critical reader and I know that now it's the final draft and it's ready to go to the copy-editor. I get such a sense of achievement and relaxation, knowing I've done it and it's complete.

Where can we purchase this book?

The books are available on Kindle, iTunes and Nook.

Cats or dogs?

Dogs. They have a really warm heart.

Do you read more than you write?

Yes, I love reading. It's a great way to learn about the world and to get inspired.

Favorite book or author? Yeah we know it can be hard to choose! 😉

It is so hard to choose, but hands down, it's Call of the Wild by Jack London. I can't believe he even wrote that book! It's all about Buck, a half dog half wolf, that lets go of many generations of taming and becomes a wild wolf once again. It's set up in the Klondike gold rush, with the northern winter explorations and the roughness of the ice and snow. I love it when Buck looks into the fire and instead of seeing his masters, he sees a more primitive man, from a world that was younger and more dangerous.

Right now in your line of site, how many books can you see?

Funny Fairy Tales is all about bringing a fresh twist to the stories everybody loves. There are about 20-30 popular fairy tales, and I've so far done 3, so I've definitely got a lot to explore!!

If a laptop, what kind do you own and would you recommend it to other authors?

I bought a used 2011 Macbook Air Mini a couple of months ago, and I love it to bits. They are a superior model, and maybe someday Apple will make them again (wink, wink).

Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Life is a collection of moments. So make them count. At every moment your experience is what you see, feel and think. So if there is anything at all that you would like to do or have, just go for it – make that moment count 🙂

Let the tale begin!
