Morgan La Fay

Morgan La Fay:

More than two thousand years old. Fairy Queen who is now a professor of physics and Arthurian literature. Morgan was Kim’s mentor in the past, and close to Guinevere and Merlin.

Merlin’s Creed, Chapter 15:

Unlike her daughter, Morgan’s presence sparked a mixture of emotions. Similar to what you felt when you walked into a room in the depth of winter, and in one go you sensed both the warmth and light of the flames in the hearthside and the contrasting dark cold of the space beyond their reach.

She was one of the fairest of all fairies. And yet, it was power and not beauty that radiated from her.

Morgan & Kim in 500 AD

“This is…” Kim started.

“Strange. Yes.” Morgan sighed, still smiling.

“I’m…” She took a breath. “Angry at you.”

“I know.”

“How could you let this happen? I’m his Guardian,” she spoke of Seth. “I was about to marry someone else. In a wedding arranged by my father, who isn’t even my father.”

“I told you I was against it.”

“But you didn’t tell me why. You didn’t even tell me who I was or that he existed. He was also close to choosing someone else.”

“But it didn’t work, did it? It couldn’t. Guardian love found a way to bring you together. It is the greatest of gifts.”

An opposite opinion to her daughter’s.

“And, not that this makes it easier, but I knew you would find each other again.”

“Because you believe in destiny?” The words came out almost in sarcasm. Kim regretted that. Morgan was, after all, here to help, but she didn’t seem fazed.

“No. Because it was in a letter that I wrote to myself.”

“What?!”

“In the future, it was I who sent you back. With powers I don’t yet have. Powers that Merlin was willing to die for, to pass on to me, so that I could do it. Only my special ability in the In-Between combined with his magic could move you both through time.”

Just like Merlin had said. But he never mentioned that he would actually sacrifice himself.

“There was a letter in your pocket when you arrived. In my own handwriting. It explained this. It also said that we had to avoid telling you who you are. To wait until you discovered things on your own because it was how you would get the visions of the prophecy.”

What else was written there? “I want to see that letter.”

“I burned it long ago.”

“Tell me in your own words, then.”

“I’ll tell you what I can.” Morgan put her hand on hers. “The letter said that you were Ivan’s long-awaited descendant, sent to our time to deliver the knowledge of the prophecy of Camelot. That it was going to the wrong hands and would otherwise be lost to us. It said not to interfere with your lack of memory. That it was crucial to pass you off as a human to protect you from other mages, until the day in which your own powers would return.”

“And…Caradoc?” The name Seth used as disguise.

“It mentioned losing him. Temporarily. We just didn’t think it would happen the way it did. With him disappearing right after you arrived. We couldn’t find him. Our best course of action then was to follow the path that Merlin had set for you.”

“The what?”

“He had prepared the ground. He told Áedán that he had a long-lost daughter, from an affair, who grew up in fairy tribes and who I was mentoring.”

“When did he do all of this?”

“Right before he came to tell me to expect your arrival.”

So he did foresee it!
