It started with dreams of a black cat with wings who claimed he was my familiar—whatever that means—and seemed very unhappy about it.
No, actually, it started with a cheap flight to Scotland and a hitchhike up to Hexenville after losing everything I built for myself in the big city. Bastard boss, bastard boyfriend (same guy…), and no money left for rent.
Hexenville is the perfect place for me to forget it all and make a fresh start. But strange things are happening here. Especially around Grandma Evans, who seems all too keen to put my life back together for me.
And Hexenville really is the perfect place to forget my troubles. Lots of tourists come here to do just that. Like hot doctor Bradley-George Knightley, who inspires my dreams even more than the cat. He’s smart and funny, and a strange blue glow appears on my hand when we first touch, which of course has nothing to do with a magically destined love bond that can put both our lives in great danger. Who believes in that, right?
But when it’s time to protect the town from an evil mage trying to take over, maybe listening to Grandma Evans and her claims that I have powers isn’t such a bad idea after all.
